GRANTS RECEIVED, page 4

Thank You for Supporting the Haitian Community
Donors

On behalf of the Haitian Community in Hudson, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the residents of Hudson and surrounding towns who had come out to attend the "Traditional Taste of Haiti" that was sponsored by the Hudson River Farm Market.

Nothing is more encouraging than the support we have received from organizations in Hudson and surrounding areas. The First Presbyterian Church had been instrumental in developing a base of support to the Haitian community by offering the church for religious observance and other social events, the International Dinner with Karen Frishkoff, in addition to the ESL classes that it offers.

In celebration of Haiti's 200 years of independence: 1804-2004, a celebration that started last year in 2003, in collaboration with Friends of Fonkoze-Albany, the Columbia County Council on the Arts, Richard Sena Gallery, the Fourth Down Association, Jubilee Restaurant, The Hudson Opera House, and most recently the Hudson River Farmer's Market, we Haitians have had the opportunity to express and share with the rest of the community our lives, imagination, arts, music, dance, culture and food, as well as sorrows from the political upheaval and recent flood that had left many in dire need of help.

Thanks you to Chris Reed of the Hudson River Farm Market for a great event and to you too, Jamie the cook, for helping us so much in the kitchen. I also like to thank Jan Hanvik of the CCCA for the opportunity the council has given to the Haitian Artist, Jean-Marie Gabriel, to exhibit his work in the art show that opened on June 5th. Also to Joe and Gary and the Hudson Opera House for the opportunity they have given Azouke, Jean-Marie, and our children to participate in the Teen Theatre Project. To Operation Unite and to the Department of Youth in their upcoming events.

To Ann Gibbons and Richard Sena for the Monthly Poetry Club that has encouraged the young teens to express their thoughts through writing.

Thank you to all.
